At the Fishers High School Class of 2009 Senior Awards ceremony, Sean McKinnies, Senior Vice President of Saxony Management Company, awarded the first annual Saxony/Republic Scholarship for Achievement in the Arts to graduating senior Miranda Smith.  Miranda is heading to Purdue University with a major in Art Education in the College of Liberal Arts with a minor in dance.  She was involved in the cadet-teaching program and taught religious classes to Junior High school students at her church.  She was also enrolled in many art courses in high school and has been trained in basic ballet and choreography.

In 2008, the Saxony/Republic Scholarship for Achievement in the Arts was established through the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Endowment to award two, $1,000 scholarships yearly, one going to a graduating senior from Hamilton Southeastern High School and another from Fishers High School. Winners will have overcome adversity and excel in and intend to pursue an education in the visual or performing arts.  Miranda Smith was the first in what Saxony hopes to be a very long line of scholarship recipients.  Saxony and Republic Development would like to congratulate Miranda and wish her the best of luck for the future.

Saxony and Republic Development look forward to presenting this award each year.
