The Fishers Renaissance Faire may be moving to a new site for its’ 7th anniversary but you’ll still find all the merriment and revelry that marked past faires! This year’s Faire, themed Festival of Fools, will be held on October 1 and 2, 2011 in Fishers, Indiana at SAXONY located at Olio Road and 134th  street.

Travel back to the time of Queen Elizabeth I in the re-imagined Billericay, England, which is also Fisher’s current Sister City. Throughout both days of the Faire, you’ll encounter 100 performances on our stages and lanes. Nearly 200 costumed characters, from warriors and knights to Court Jesters and fairies, will educate and entertain your band of merry wanders. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth also will grace the Faire with her presence and can knight or ennoble the young visitors into her service while they are there.

Pay special attention to the Faire’s landlocked pirates: The Hey Nonny Nonny Players: Pirates of the Luna Sea, who will be performing their all new fractured fairy tales from the piratical point of view. They are all Fishers residents!

In fact Captain Aaron ‘the’ Black married Blood Alex right before the 2010 Renaissance Faire and now they are expecting their first child (certain to be part of many Faires in the coming years). Grace O’Malley and First Mate Romeo ‘the” Red also are wed and were part of the first performance of The Hey Nonny Nonny Players along with Captain Black at the inaugural Fishers Renaissance Faire in 2005.

Be sure to congratulate the good Captain Black on the pending birth of his child. That is, if you dare get close enough to the pirate!

Other special Faire activities include:

  • Kids Karnivale
  • Daily Fool’s Parade and Masquerade Ball
  • Knights of Valour Joust (held twice daily)
  • Champions Arena
  • Queen’s Welcome
  • And much more!

Not only will you need both days to do everything, you’ll need a ticket! We will be giving away Family Four Packs to the Faire on Fridays. Your first chance to win is today!  Just let us know in the comments below if you are going to the Faire in costume or not costumed. We will pick one winner at random.

The Fishers Renaissance Faire is presented by the Sister Cities Association of Fishers, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization as part of its ongoing commitment to cultural understanding and diversity. The proceeds fuel programs such as an international student/teacher exchange and World Connection Clubs at the local high schools
