Grand Opening of Fishers First Self-Service Postal Facility

Indianapolis, IN- It’s here! The new self-service postal facility in Fishers is open for business. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on April 1, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the structure located at 13326 Overview Drive, Fishers, near the intersection of 131st Street and Olio Road. Scott Faultless, President of the Fishers Town Council; Rick Arnos, President, Republic Development Corporation; and Lynn Smith, District Manager, Customer Service and Sales for the United States Postal Service will have the honor of presenting this facility to consumers. “We’re ecstatic that the Postal Service chose Fishers to locate their state-of-the-art, cutting edge facility,” said Faultless. “Not only will the area be a destination for shopping and restaurants, but residents will also be able to conduct business with convenience and ease.”

“This unique structure is one of a few of its kind in the country and the very first in Indiana.” says Doland Wise, Fishers Postmaster. “The new postal facility is totally self-service and is located in a free-standing building with 24-hour access,” he adds. “We are really excited about the convenience this contemporary unit will provide to our customers on the east side of Fishers who require postal and shipping services. Two Automated Postal Centers (APCs) are housed in the building and more than 200 post office boxes will be offered for rent.” During the grand opening week of April 1st, a postal representative will be on hand from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to assist customers unfamiliar with the APC. Come out to visit this innovative post office and see how quick, easy and convenient it is to use the Automated Postal Centers.

The Automated Postal Centers will be available every day of the week, including holidays and can conduct 80% of transaction available at Post Office retail counters. Customers can weigh and ship domestic packages via Express Mail, Priority Mail or Parcel Post, deposit First-Class Mail, buy stamps and even look up ZIP Codes. They can also print shipping labels, purchase Delivery Confirmation, Certified Mail and Return Receipt services and insurance for shipping packages. And, the APC accepts most major credit and debit cards.

Post office boxes for rent at the Fishers Self-Service Postal Facility area available in three sizes to accommodate varying mail volumes and are priced from $28.00 to $84.00 for six months. Anyone interested in obtaining a post office box at this new facility can apply at the Fishers Post Office, 8500 E. 116th Street.
