Counties surrounding Indianapolis continue to be among the fastest growing in America, according to census estimates that indicate residents fleeing the city are helping to fuel the rapid suburban growth.

Hamilton and Hendricks counties were among the nation’s 100 fastest-growing counties, according to estimates covering April 2000 to July 2003.

Convenient access to the jobs and amenities of Marion County is a key to the suburban growth, said Alan Goldsticker, president of Ryland Homes of Indiana.

“People can live in Hamilton or Hendricks counties and still get Downtown very quickly compared to places like Washington, D.C., Los Angeles (and) Chicago,” he said.
